Plastic Review: Thakoon For Target

My fellow Plastics, I was just tortured.  The worst kind of torture there is; Denial Of New Adorable Clothes.

I’m a bit of a sucker for the Target Go International collections.  I’ve purchased countless items from past collections, and while some have been disappointing and uninspiring (I’m looking at you Jonathan Saunders), others have been absolutely delightful.  My personal favorites were Jovovich/Hawk and Proenza Schouler.

While doing some shopping at Target this afternoon with David, I zeroed in on Thakoon’s collection before he had even grabbed a cart.  By the time he caught up with me, I had three items flung over my arm and he was giving me some major stink eye.

“What are you doing?” he asked.

“Nothing, go ahead, I will catch up with you.”

He continued to stand and stare, willing me to drop the precious clothing on the floor and follow him into the bowels of Target to buy sponges and dog food.

‘David, GO, I will catch up with you.”

He left, begrudgingly, and I continued to poke around the collection.  I ended up walking away without a thing (and it hurt, trust me), but I did take a good look at every piece.  I think the collection may be, by far, my favorite thus far.  The construction is above decent, the colors are seasonally appropriate, the fabric is nice, and the silhouettes are different but not too kooky.  And, it felt like Thakoon; feminine and sporty.  Some favorites, below.

I’m not one to buy tee-shirts, but this one was so soft and had nice, long sleeves.

The bathing suits were not at my store, but I was DROOLING over the photos shown in the POS images.  This get-up reminds me of something I would have worn during one of my many trips to Santa Cruz beaches with friends in high school, when the weather would begin to cool and the booze-warmth would be wearing off.

This dress doesn’t have much shape, but belted with a cardigan, it looks adorable.  The cardigans were totally awesome.  I’m a complete cardigan whore.

I’m one of those Waistless Wonders that can’t pull off a shirt dress, but I was dying to give this one a whirl.  It was one of the items I had in my arms when David arrived with his Guilt Gaze.  The painterly design is just beautiful.

The full skirts are adorable but only for ladies who can pull it off (ideal for those of you with a shapely waist).  I wanted to buy every cardigan I saw.

Verdict?  Get thee to a Target!!!  Do it for me, because I can’t!  At least, not with David around…..

Like you, I enjoy the GO collections. I loved the bright, vibrant prints of Thakoon’s collection, but this time I only bought 4 pieces when I usually buy more. I’m actually wearing the striped long-sleeved shirt with the shibori print cardigan right now :) It must have been hard to not to buy anything!

Whoa, I need to go to Target stat! I love full skirts and am also waist-less.

(By the way, I tagged your blog as being one of the five I deemed fabulous. You have to list your five addictions and then tag five other blogs, if you’re interested. Keep up the good work!)

Almost all of my clothing comes from Target. It’s cheap and so fabulous! Target FTW.

I refuse to pay full price for anything, even at Target. What I do is go to the Target website and create a wishlist and wait for it to go on sale. I also do all my online shopping through ebates so when I’m ready to purchase, I go to the ebates site first, then to the Target site and I get cash back!
