Spending Report, Week Ending January 2nd

Week of 12.27.08 – 1.2.09

Shipping – $40.62

Grocery/Alcohol – $101.32

Gifts – $40.85

Donations – $2

Rx – $10

TOTAL – $153.94

I actually thought this was going to look a lot worse.  I’ve been struggling through the holiday season to stay within my $100 a week budget, and this past week I found myself unexpectedly needing a gift for David’s sister and brother-in-law.  It’s time to pack it in and get serious.

    almost there!

What have you found to be the cheapest way to ship books?

  3. pennyplastic Says:

Britni – Always, ALWAYS ship books media mail. Especially if you are doing so through the Amazon program, as it’s expected. You can insure those packages, if you are concerned about it getting lost or if it’s a very expensive book.

You can find a rate chart here:

The one exception to media mail is that if your book/package is very light and the destination is close, it might be cheaper to send it priority mail. Always compare!

Forgot to add, if you mail a lot of stuff, make friends with the postal clerks — they’ll help you find the cheapest way to send stuff.

Tart, thanks for the input! Yes, it’s always good to weigh your options, and postal clerks are generally helpful.
